Swing Toilet Removed from Chongqing Creative District

After becoming a viral sensation online, a swing toilet has been removed from a creative district in Chongqing, Sichuan, following debate criticism from netizens.

In order to fit the creative spirit of the district, a designer hung a wooden swing over a standard squatting toilet, allowing visitors to do their business through a hole in the swing.

The swing was added for creative effect, but removed for possible inconvenience.

Netizens agreed that the project was creative, but many argued that it could lead to inconvenience. The designer had the swing removed in response, saying that he just thought it was a bit of fun, and admitting that it was “inconsiderate.”

Several other creative toilets in the area remain, including toilets that make use of mirrors and an outdoor decorative toilet-chair hybrid that is not meant for use.

Here are a few of the quips from netizen responses:

- I guess the designer’s original goal was free flying?

- Do you need a shitting license (驾屎证) to ride?

- This designer must really hate the custodians!

- So you have to swing and aim at the same time while pooping?
